The Number “88”

(New beginnings, regeneration, and judgment / Infinity)

Meaning and Symbology

  • Since the number “8” embodies the energetic vibration of infinity, the number 88 is often interpreted as a  doubling of this energy.
  • Another interpretation of the doubling of “8” is that it symbolizes the double directions of the infinity of the universe, the infinitely small and the infinitely large.
  • The number 88 is a “Power Number”. While numbers 11, 22, & 33 are known as “Master Numbers”, numbers 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, & 99 are referred to as “Power Numbers”.
  • In the Occult the number 8 is often idealized as the Ouroboros (Snake eating it’s own tail) with a half twist forming the number 8. The Ouroboros, being the symbol for infinity transformed into the number 8, and 8 being multiplied with the first Master Number “11”, produces the number 88.
