The Conspiracy of Archeology
The research I do is time-consuming. It is a labor of love which requires an average of 3 to 4 hours of reading per day as well as weekly on the ground recon excursions. In the end trying to map out, and make sense of a corner of the world which has seen far more than has been officially recorded is still blurry at best. Though my findings and occasional theories don’t always line up with mainstream academia I’m okay it, as I don’t believe they are asking the appropriate questions anyway. Besides, I have an advantage. I’m unencumbered with the burden of academic credentials, this means I don’t have to tow a party line. I’m not beholden to the graces of professors who must defend a lifetime of work. Nor the whims of donors who fund many expeditions. I am a free agent and a free thinker who enjoys the luxury of not having been indoctrinated into an industry standard, and like the internet, my doors are open to all lines of thinking and perspective. This “large net” approach has allowed myself and others to make connections within archaeology in respect to the official narrative of the human species while more importantly allowing us to voice our findings consequence free. One would think these connections would be great stretches of the imagination but as you are about to find out, they are connections which establishment archaeology is just now officially recognizing, albeit reluctantly.
While any substantial findings made by independent researchers will never be accepted, much less acknowledged by the academic aristocracy, their own consistent findings are beginning to corroborate theories postulated by those who would ask the forbidden questions. We are labeled Pseudo-archaeologists, fringe archaeologists, mystics, conspiracy theorists, and even crackpots in an attempt to direct and maintain the official narrative. But the evidence for a world vastly different from the one which has been constructed and archived to the history books is emerging and can no longer be ignored or scoffed at. The system has been irrevocably tweaked as technology has allowed for the open and prolific sharing of information and “non-establishment” peer review. The new challenge it would seem will be to monitor and police how the academic elite will deal with it.
This subject has been on my mind for over a year now and those of you who are regular readers you will recognize similar veins of discourse in other articles peppered throughout my website. This being said, the findings which finally spurred an article dedicated completely to the corruption within establishment archaeology occurred recently at a site located in the southwest corner of Colorado.
Pythagorean Theorem discovered in Mesa Verde
Dr. Sherry Towers, a physicist, and statistician at Arizona State University conducted a study of an 800-year-old ceremonial complex near the famous cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde. She found that this complex was built using the same basic geometry found in ancient monuments from Greece to Egypt. In her paper published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports, she writes-
“These findings represent the first potential quantitative evidence of knowledge of advanced geometrical constructs in a prehistoric North American society, which is particularly remarkable given that the Ancestral Pueblo peoples had no written language or number system.”
The exact location of this research took place at Mesa Verde’s Sun Temple, a small complex of masonry buildings atop a mesa and across from the famous Cliff Palace cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park. The Sun Temple, first excavated in 1915 is believed by researchers to have been used for ceremonial purposes as no domestic artifacts or trash middens of any kind have ever been found there.
Although Towers set out in 2015 to study the site for its archeo-astronomical attributes (alignment with solar and lunar occurrences) this was the first time in over 100 years anyone had conducted a research study here. As a southwest researcher this is a little disconcerting as Mesa Verde represents not only one of the richest concentration of ancient Native American architecture in the American Southwest but in many respects the pinnacle of technological achievement for Native cultures at the time. Unlike the Hohokam, whose history was obliterated by pioneers and had to be painstakingly reconstructed, the Mesa Verde area was identified early and provides us today with a high-resolution snapshot of an ancient southwestern culture. This has provided us with an opportunity to glean from these ancient people a deeper understanding of their world and their history; that is if we don’t approach it with a pre-written script in hand.
In my opinion, this is exactly what has been occurring for much of the last century when it comes to archaeology. Whether this is the result of a grand conspiracy to obfuscate the true history of mankind, or simply falls in line with the patterns of man’s propensity for tribalism and default patterns of groupthink has yet to be determined. However one thing is evident, with the public release of these findings and the implications they carry, establishment researchers have already begun to double talk and construct the excuses necessary to fit these findings into the official narrative of mainstream archaeology and flat out ignore their wider implications. As a jaded researcher, I wonder whether this is being done in an effort to secure more funding or if it’s a matter of academic pressure. I don’t mean to come off harsh, but the overt double-talk isn’t in line with the obvious professionalism of the findings.
Self admittedly Towers says that Pythagorean geometry is reflected in the layout of the construction of the Sun Temple. In the article she says-
“My original interest in the site involved looking at whether it was used for observing stars as well. I noticed in my site survey that the same measurements kept popping up over and over again. When I saw that the layout of the site’s key features also involved many geometrical shapes, I decided to take a closer look.”……..“We found apparent evidence that a Golden rectangle was used to construct the outer D of the Sun Temple site, and that features of the geometrical construction of this rectangle are also associated with other geometrical constructs at the Sun Temple site. The Golden rectangle is evident in many examples of ancient Greek architecture. However, evidence that societies in the prehistoric Americas knew of the Golden ratio is scant, although some evidence has been found that the footprints of examples of ancient Mayan ceremonial architecture may have exhibited approximations to the Golden rectangle.”
Continuing with the article she said her results showed several key geometrical shapes, including right triangles, Pythagorean triangles, and the Golden Rectangle.
If you understood what you just read then you know THIS IS HUGE. The 3:5 ratio rectangle and its derivatives often turn up in ancient European art and architecture as well as Egyptian pyramids and represents the primary ratio construction of not only most life on Earth, but the shape of our solar system. The incorporation of the Golden Rectangle into any structure is never by accident and carries with it the understanding that the people who built it were in possession of the understanding of this geometry and all its implications.
Maintaining control of the narrative
So where is my rub? One would think that a researcher who’s been saying for years that there was an advanced civilization in the Americas long before the most recent European contact would be happy to hear such news coming from the academic elite. First of all let me say that Tower’s findings are admirable, solid and extremely well documented. It is her comments to the press which put me off. The article reads –
“However, mystics, fans of “alternative history,” and pseudo-archaeologists should all take note: Towers does not by any means intimate that the forms found in Sun Temple mean that they were designed with some unrecognized technology or arcane knowledge. No single civilization had a unique purchase on the concept of the right triangle, for instance, and Towers observes that a shape like a Golden Rectangle can be mapped out using little more than a couple of people and a length of cordage to create a straight line and an arc.”
Towers is quoted –
“Golden rectangles are readily constructed with a straightedge and a compass and do not require knowledge of irrational numbers,”
HOWEVER, she goes on to say –
“The genius of the site’s architects cannot be underestimated.”……”If you asked someone today to try to reconstruct this site and achieve the same precision that they had using just a stick and a piece of cord, it’s highly unlikely they’d be able to do it, especially if they couldn’t write anything down as they were working.”
Well, which is it? It would appear Towers is attempting to appease both the academic patriarchs while simultaneously presenting her research. Is she simply covering her bases so as not to alienate potential funding, or is there an agenda here? I am not one to question anyone’s integrity and I’m not doing that now. I’m simply pointing out the obvious double talk and inquiring as to why.
It would appear that these findings, which truly are groundbreaking, can not simply be ignored, nor can they be taken for what they truly represent as this would undo the official narrative of the history of mankind. Let me be clear. It wouldn’t simply require academia to edit a few pages of history, it would force them to completely rewrite it. Higher mathematical concepts embedded in the construction design of “primitive” peoples who possessed no mathematics or written language is simply a problem. A problem which the academic elite are unwilling to deal with. The entire, machine, if you will, has long been committed to writing the official script of our history and it can’t stop now. This double talk is par for the course and exactly what we have become accustomed to when dealing with any new archaeological findings which provide evidence contrary to the “official” script.
Geometry – Is it intrinsic to the human mind?
Another argument which counters my own beliefs at this point, but which I am considering nonetheless is the concept of “intrinsic geometry.” This argument considers that since humans recognize certain ratios naturally and construct their physical world to reflect them, then perhaps it is only a matter of time before civilizations get a firm hold of this particular brand of mathematics and realize that it is intrinsic in all things. This would mean that the Golden Ratio itself is embedded within us (which it is) and all peoples will eventually realize and manifest it into their physical world.
Chris Hardaker at Earthmeasure.com writes-
“Given the presence of non-random geometry in diverse cultures separated by thousands of miles and thousands of years, it would seem to be a tradition of knowledge and a system of application that is easily understood by every culture that comes in contact with it. The same cannot be said of other mathematical traditions, such as algebra. And this brings up a most important question: Does non-random geometry constitute a language in and of itself?”
He goes on to write –
“If non-random geometry can be qualified as a universal language, IE. one that can be learned by anyone from any culture, then it would appear to be an example of a trans-cultural, trans-linguistic tradition that could provide a cross-cultural standard for researchers concerned with how the brain/mind learns and transmits information, perhaps even a standard for measuring intelligence itself. One advantage to this field of study should be attractive to researchers: The rules that govern this possible “language” are firmly grounded in an elegant scientific logic.”
Interesting to say the least, and definitively worth examining in depth. It makes me think of the concept of numbers. We now know that numbers are intrinsic in the physical universe and can be quantified using them, yet at the same time man “discovered” or invented numbers and they are very much a man-made concept. So which is it? Many theoretical physicists believe the answer to be “both.” Since geometry is “number in space” it could very well stand to reason that mankind will always eventually realize the mathematics he is made up of and expand upon it.
